  1. 1. How do you think the lack of water threatens Singapore's security?

We do not have a natural source of water, and thus majority of the water has to be collected. This means water transport can be easily halted by the enemy in the middle of war.

    2. Why do you think it is important for Singapore to seek out alternative sources of water?

This is to reduce dependencies on imported water and thus reduce costs of the imported water. This also makes water transportation harder to disrupt in war as we will have more methods to fall back on.

  2. 1) What factors caused the Maria Hertogh Riots in Singapore? Why is it important for Singaporeans to practice Social Defence in our daily lives
Newspapers sensationalized the misunderstanding by publishing photos of Maria Hertogh praying to Mother Mary during her stay at a convent even though she was brought up as a Muslim. It is important as we need to strengthen the social fabric, which will help us build a common identity and reduce ethnic diversity

    2) How have you played your part/ how can you do your part to strengthen ties with your friends from other races?
Ryan Yeo invited his Malay friend to his Chinese New Year celebrations.

    1. How do you think the haze situation threatens Singapore's security? [Inferences]

The haze will affect the people that are in charge of protecting Singapore and Singapore in general. If the haze situation situations, the economy will be affected because everybody will stop working, and the education system could possibly be put on hold.

    2. Why do you think it is important for Singaporeans to demonstrate social responsibility and civic mindedness? [Question at Issue]

Singaporeans are all we have in Singapore. Singapore does not have any natural resources, and the population of Singapore is not very high.

    1) What values and attitudes have you learnt from the experience shared in the write-up? What is the importance of such values and attitudes to our society?

The values and attitudes are responsibility, respect, discipline, integrity, resilience. With the higher standards of living, costs are rising and so people are working a lot more to keep up with the rising cost of living. These values and attitudes help Singaporeans to be able to cope with the additional stress and pressure from working more to keep up with costs of living.

    2) What can you do to make Singaporeans who serve National Service, such as your brother or uncle, feel appreciated for defending Singapore?

Make cards to thank them. Be more understanding towards them and help them out when they book out.
